These paintings depict the stonework of the nave windows surrounded by the mosaic of the sanctuary windows, painted on wood. Behind them is a purple sky moving from dark and threatening to the light of the star, far in the East, which heralds the entry of the Light of the World which will shatter our darkness and fear as Advent moves into Christmas.
